  • Larry Church

    Attorney

These are just a few of the words that clients and opposing counsel use when describing Larry. For more than 30 years, Larry has devoted himself to representing his clients with great skill and commitment while never forgetting that not only his clients, but those opposing them, are first and foremost people who deserve to be treated fairly and with respect. Primarily, Larry is a trial lawyer. Over his career, he has represented clients whose disputes range from a few hundred dollars to millions of dollars. Larry approaches each case the same way — with intense preparation and overwhelming enthusiasm. Larry handles all types of civil litigation, including business, personal injury, real estate and other areas of the law. Over the last few years, Larry has concentrated his practice in the areas of ADR/Mediation. He is currently a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and is serving as the Chair of the Louisville Bar Association’s ADR section. He has mediated thousands of civil disputes encompassing all areas of Civil Litigation. Larry assists parties by utilizing his common sense in combination with the skills learned over the course of his career to craft cost-effective and appropriate resolutions of disputes. “I’m good at solving problems. That’s probably my greatest strength. I can see the forest through the trees. I listen well, and I don’t get sidetracked. I always keep the end goal in mind.” Larry is originally from Portsmouth, Ohio, and spent most of his adult life living in Louisville, Kentucky. He primarily practices within the state of Indiana. He is licensed and actively engaged in the law in Indiana and Kentucky. Larry graduated from Kent State University in 1988 with a B.A. in English, earning induction into Phi Beta Kappa. He then attended the University of Cincinnati School of Law where he obtained his J.D. Prior to joining Church, Langdon, Lopp, Banet Law Firm in New Albany, IN, Larry began his legal career as a Public Defender, where he represented thousands of indigent individuals. From the PD office, Larry transitioned to the regional law firm of Wyatt, Tarrant and Combs, where he practiced for 15 years. He then operated the southern Indiana office of McNeely Stephenson for more than 10 years. Most recently Larry, along with his partners, opened the New Albany office of Church, Langdon, Lopp, Banet Law in 2020. Larry describes his style as relaxed and conversational. He prefers a sweater and jeans to a suit and tie. He likes the law firm’s pet-friendly policy, which includes supporting pet rescue initiatives and the Humane Society. At the law firm, it’s not uncommon to find a puppy under a desk or in the hallway. He also enjoys the law firm’s commitment to the local community. “We were all either born, grew up in or live this community. We feel very blessed by our success and it’s important to all of us to give back. It’s a way of equaling out all that we’ve been given. When we get involved in an activity or an event, we don’t just write a check — we show up.” Larry and his partner, Chris, live in New Albany with their beagles, Maya and Juno, and their two dangerously overweight cats, Aro and Gatsby. Chris is an avid historian and currently works as the Director at the Conrad Caldwell House Museum. They are both active in their communities and participate in a variety of fitness activities as well as enjoying traveling, movies and music.

  • Steven P. Langdon

    Attorney

Licensed to practice in both Indiana and Kentucky, Steve Langdon is an experienced elder law and trial attorney. In addition to his litigation and trial work, Steve’s practice includes wills, trusts, probate, Medicaid planning, guardianship, powers of attorney, and advanced directive planning, including living wills and health care surrogate designations. Steve, who earned his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis in 1996, is a special kind of estate planning and elder law attorney. He is deeply compassionate and highly skilled, in part because of his firsthand personal experience grappling with nursing homes and finances when his brother Tom died young of a brain tumor. Steve was drawn to elder care planning by his own experience in trying to maneuver the tangled maze of the Medicaid system. I feel my clients’ pain. I’ve been through it. I know it’s hard. I think about my brother every day. Sometimes people come into my office slumped over and in crisis, but by the time they leave, we’ve lifted a load off their shoulders. Steve says his work is very rewarding because he can help families avoid some of the difficulties and costly mistakes that exist with Medicaid planning and end-of-life issues. With compassion and astute knowledge, Steve helps families preserve their assets while walking beside his clients as they transition into a new stage of life. I do a lot of house calls. I’ve even been to people’s bedsides before they pass. That’s really hard, but it’s also rewarding. Steve encourages young as well as older clients to be proactive in creating customized estate plans that meet their unique needs. Wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills and guardianships can be modified over time as a family’s circumstances evolve and children grow. It’s never too late and never too early to plan. You want to have things in order. No matter how old you are, be sure to get a power of attorney for your spouse and for you. When a crisis hits, you must be ready. Steve has deep roots in the community. He is a lifelong Kentuckiana resident who grew up in Clarksville, Indiana, with his mother, father, and three brothers. He attended Clarksville Community Schools where his father was a principal and taught for many years. He is deeply committed to his local church and family. Out of law school, Steve initially worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Clark County, Indiana. There, he spent most of his days in court handling jury/bench trials, hearings, and legal conferences. Thereafter, Steve worked as a civil litigator for Wyatt Tarrant & Combs in their New Albany, Indiana, office and later as a civil litigator for Frost Brown Todd in their Indiana and Kentucky offices. Steve is married to the former Karen Huber, who also grew up in Clarksville, Indiana. Karen is a special-needs educator. They are raising four beautiful children and currently live in Floyd County, Indiana. Church and family are important to me, and I love my work. We are very blessed.

When he returned to New Albany in 2002, he joined a small, boutique real estate firm and later Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, where he narrowed his focus to real estate, business and banking-related matters. • Dana Eberle

    Attorney

Dana is a native of Southern Indiana and is deeply devoted to Kentuckiana. After spending most of her life in Floyds Knobs, she has also lived in Greenville, New Albany, and Georgetown. Allowing Dana to become familiar with every town of Floyd County. She oversees the Family Law practice area for CLLB, and she firmly believes that helping families is her destiny. “Being able to help families heal is my biggest reward. In most cases, I’m working with a broken family. Whether it’s a divorce or child custody case, when a client thanks me afterward for helping them through a difficult time – that makes it all worth it.” Dana describes family law as “very nuanced, very fact-dependent.” She says a big part of her job is to advocate aggressively on her clients’ behalf but also to help manage their expectations. She always focuses on what’s best for the children involved. She is highly experienced at working toward legal solutions that offer the best outcomes possible. “I say to my clients, ‘I will fight for you and I will fight for your kids like they’re mine.’ I do what I need to do to help my client. I will also tell them when I think they’re wrong.” Having gone through two divorces herself; Dana feels she brings a special nuance to her family law cases. Through her firsthand experience with the emotional, legal, and financial complexities of divorce, she has gained an empathetic understanding of her clients’ challenges. This personal insight enables her to approach each case with a heightened sensitivity and a practical understanding of the issues at stake. In short: she gets it! Whether you’re the wife or the husband, the mother or the father, Dana understands what you’re going through. She knows how it feels to have your family turned upside down, to worry about how it’s affecting the kids, to stress over the financial implications – to experience a profound sense of loss. Dana makes it her mission to avoid the pitfalls and mistakes inherent in family law proceedings. She vows that what went wrong for her won’t go wrong for you. She wants your process – whether it’s divorce, paternity, guardianship or adoption – to be as pain-free as possible. Family law is never easy, but Dana will be there for you through the entire process, and a box of tissues is never far away. She prides herself on making sure her clients fully understand the process and the possibilities. Having navigated the intricacies of divorce herself, she can offer valuable guidance, strategic insights, and realistic expectations to her clients — making her a well-suited and relatable advocate during a challenging period in her clients’ lives. “Because I went through it myself, I know how heartbreaking it is. I worry about my clients; I think about them when I’m making breakfast; I think about them when I go to bed at night. As an attorney, I can’t turn it off because these cases are always emotional.” From Floyd Central High School to University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, and everywhere in between, Dana is rooted in Kentuckiana, and she is committed to serving the legal needs of residents. Being an attorney was always a goal for her, but she didn’t begin her legal career until after working in many other capacities, including international customer service representative at UPS, marketing manager, stay-at-home mom and Weight Watchers Leader. She’s immensely human and, therefore, very approachable and compassionate. “We live in the community, and it’s a big deal to our clients that our firm is local. Growing up here, I knew many of the judges and attorneys before I went to law school.” Dana graduated from law school in 2013 and then joined Church, Langdon, Lopp, Banet Law soon after passing the Indiana Bar. She passed the Kentucky Bar in 2015. When she’s not in the office or driving to court hours away to stand up for her clients, she’s spending time with her sons Grant and Aidan, or reading a book, or traveling. Her passion is off-roading in her prized Jeep, which she describes as “all beefed up. It’s my baby.” Dana says off-roading is her stress reliever.
